About Me

Darwin Franks was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and has been resident of Oxford since April 2007. A politically and socially conscious law graduate, husband, father, occasional poet and civil servant, Darwin is committed to developing his voice as an independent filmmaker, making films that give insight, inspire and entertain. Darwin is co-founder with his creative partner Ben Nicholson of High Five Films, a Oxford based film collective that writes, produces, directs and edits its own original films. They are currently submitting their first short film, Insha’Allah, to UK and international film festivals, with production of their second short (Family Portrait) currently in progress.
